Walmart's recent product recalls have raised serious safety concerns, highlighting the potential risks associated with everyday items. The first recall involves unstable Mainstays-branded 9-drawer fabric dressers, which were sold nationwide from September 2023 to March 2026. These dressers, priced at around $80, pose a significant tipping hazard, especially for children, as they can trap or crush them, leading to serious injury or death. The issue stems from the dressers' instability when not anchored to a wall, violating federal safety standards under the STURDY Act. Walmart has taken swift action by recalling approximately 165,000 units, urging consumers to stop using them immediately if not anchored and to return them for a refund.
In a separate recall, Giantex and Costway portable steam saunas sold online through Walmart and Amazon from January 2023 to December 2025 have been pulled due to a burn hazard. The steam diffusers in these saunas can be positioned too close to the user's body, causing scalding steam to make direct contact with the skin, resulting in serious burns. The CPSC has received multiple incident reports, including one second-degree burn, prompting the recall of around 1,000 units. Consumers are advised to stop using the saunas, unplug them, and submit photo evidence of the destroyed product to receive a full refund.
