Ride Around the Thumb

Has anyone ridden around the thumb from Port Huron to the Bay City?

Thinking about making a day trip out this some time this summer, probably taking a Friday off or something to do it.

Plan on taking M25 most of the way around. Any route, stop input appreciated.

Thanks!

We used to do that ride with DreamRyder (disclaimer: I don't have the route) that was awesome. You have to stop in Port Austin at the grind stone cafe.

Yes.

I have a fun route I take to get m 25 from Howell. All back routes. Not too mant curves, but little traffic.

Basically, Lincoln road out of Durand, birch run road across, north to Tuscola, Lorenzo road to Waterman, bradleyville north.

This is all memory. I think I should visit the Liquor Bar in Vassar this week now that you mention it. Ken Hall owes me a drink.

Xcuse the capital letter random use. It is an iPad thing.

I've done it before a few times. It's best on a weekday as the traffic between port Austin and port Huron with campers can be very slow

I grew up in the northern part of the Thumb. I've done that ride a ton, and it is a good ride during the weekdays. Weekends, eff that. Every person and their 47 kids are out on M25 driving Miss Daisy.

Swing through the Grindstone General Store and grab some ice cream and a beverage. Their ice cream is delicious. Only a mile or so from M25 on a back road. Grab a bite to eat in Caseville at the Riverside Roadhouse. Great food, sit outside on the deck above the Pigeon River and watch the boats going out.

Skip the ride to Bay City. Get off of M25 on Vassar Road and take that to Vassar. A couple nice sweepers, nothing crazy. Once in Vassar, take Frankenmuth Road out to Tuscola. Take Bray Road down to Birch Run. From there, either jump onto 75 south, or keep back roading south.

I might be in for it depending on the day.
