Smile track bike

I found a deal on this 848 and couldn't pass it up. My riding skills don't do it justice, but I'm working on that. Can't wait to try it out at Grattan 5/30-31!!

that is a damn good looking track bike. 848's require a little monetary add ons to make them perfect for the track. but if your just starting out you wont notice the needs. but they are def a cool bike

I will be adding a steering stabilizer, and I know a slipper clutch would probably be worth considering as well. What else should I look at...?

out of curiosity, what year is this one? Any details regarding any main bearing work that might have been done?

It's a 2008 frame with 2011 everything else, including the stock motor with about 5k street miles and maybe 200-ish track miles. I'm not that familiar with the main bearing issue, but I'm hoping I don't ride hard/often enough for it to be a problem. I guess time will tell...

i dont want to scare you but i wouldnt worry about a slipper clutch the damper for sure. I have not owned one but talking to the few i know that track them they say an adustable triple, adjustable ride height, and fork internals and a Master Cylinder are a def. must! It has a hard time turning in buy its possible you will never know this hell I prob wouldnt either.

Im not sure once you get a adjustable triple put on if there is any measuring required to make sure you have all your geometry right. this is where the whole money thing comes in.

I imagine the bike is fun as most track bikes are i just hear most 848 guys are tinkering with the adjustable stuff. but like i said i would probably never know the difference 1 because im just a track day junky on a GSXR soooo not a whole lot of brain waves are required. you turn gas you go bikes pass you, and you come back in the pits and repeat

this was the thing i was mentioning. We had a member on here with one that had the issue, the fix was to use the 1098 bearings, but apparently they had the same issues. So some people use the 999 bearings instead.

This is a good starting point: http://www.ducati.org/forums/848/489...t-bearing.html

oil analysis would probably tell you if this was an issue pretty quick.
