Question for the photographers

Angie and I bought a Nikon D3100 this past summer, and she has taken a huge interest in taking pictures. I have to say, she is really good at it for not having any formal training.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good photo editing software that is geared toward beginners, and is user friendly?

Also, if anyone knows of a place locally that offers Digital Photography classes, that would be great.

Thanks.

Id try your local camera store for a class as it sounds like she wants to learn more how to use rather than the science behind aperature settings

it depends on what you want to do as far as editing.

what operating system does your computer run? or what computers are available to you?

obviously photoshop is photoshop and runs everywhere...but for general photo editing on windows i would say that lightroom is probably the one to go to. on mac, either lightroom or aperture. if you have a mac i would go with aperture.

if you arent looking to put dongers in photos and stuff then lightroom and aperture are all you would need. there are others but those are probably the biggest ones. i use aperture mostly or photoshop...if im using my linux laptop (i usually am) i use digikam and darktable.

The former Walter's home appliance at Plymouth & Stark is now exclusively a camera store called Procam Photo. Looks like they offer some training as well.

like headlight said :

http://procam.com/

is on stark and plymouth and they have anything and everything she would ever need to become good at it as a hobbie or a professional. They offer all kinds of stuff there. The people there has always been friendly to me when i have gone in and asked for help. I also like how they dont try and sell you stuff you dont need unlike some of the other shops ive been too.

as for editing software i can only echo what brad says about photoshop..
