"To Protect and Serve" is a fucking joke. For any police department to have this plastered anywhere is a lie. It should say "To take your hard earned money by any means necessary, regardless of law or ethics".

If a state is going to have checkpoints for DUI, Cycle Endorsements, etc.., it should be set up like a search warrant. The police should only be able to detain for a specific violation. For example, if it's a DUI checkpoint and you have a tail light out, they should not be allowed to ticket you for that. If it's a checkpoint to check for cycle endorsements, they should not be able to write you for your license plate being at the wrong angle.

If this were the case, you would see these checkpoints go away because there would be no money in it for them.

All random checkpoints are illegal in the United States. Only your cooperation makes them legal. If you keep refusing to answer questions and assert the question are you free to go? They can't do anything.

Don't quote me if this lands you in jail. I am using my background knowledge of DUI checkpoints and illegal immigrant checkpoints.

No traffic infraction = no legal cause to stop
No cooperation = no consent and no further obligation to cooperate

Hah I was right!

Four states have since outlawed the practice -- California, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia. Illinois and New Hampshire have prohibited the use of federal dollars for MOCs. Eleven states -- Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming -- have prohibited checkpoints by statute and/or judicial action.

Yes but the main state being discussed here is the problem, it's Tennessee. They aren't stupid they put the check point just before the North Carolina border. If you read most of the problems throughout the dragon and surrounding area they are on the TN side.
