OH Ride - 7/28-7/30

Guys,

I'm planning on doing a ride in Ohio starting on the Friday the 28th. The plan would be to leave around 4pm or so and just slab it down to Zanesville, OH and grabbing a hotel for the night. Saturday would consist of a ride on the triple nickle (555) heading towards Parkersburg, WV or Marietta, OH (this is TBD). The plan would then be to ride in and around this area the rest of Saturday and again get a hotel for the night. Sunday will be heading back home, perhaps via the Hocking Hills area trying to make it as fun as possible and not just slabbing it back. I'll hash out the specific details of the whole trip as I get closer to the date.

All told I expect this trip to be at least 1000 miles and it should be a lot of fun. I did a very similar ride with Headlight a couple of years ago and it was a blast. If anyone is interested in tagging along let me know. You and your bike need to be in good shape as my rides usually go all day long so I do not suggest this for a novice rider. These roads are not Deal's Gap twisty, BUT they are still a lot of fun and you need to be on your toes to navigate them safely especially at any kind of a spirited pace. Those of you that have only ridden in MI or haven't had a chance to make it to Deal's Gap perhaps don't realize how close we are to good roads so take advantage of this opportunity.

Ride postings have been few and far between so hopefully someone takes advantage of a good ride being posted by an experienced rider. Ideally this will turn into a ride with two or three people as that's pretty easy to coordinate as no trucks or trailers are needed for this one. However, if there is enough interest I'll still consider and coordinate things for a bigger group.

- Nelson

After doing this ride with Nelson I can tell it's pretty epic. Great time, great roads.

I definitely have to focus on quality rides instead of quantity these days - it's crazy how life gets in the way sometimes. There have been extremely few rides posted to the point it's kind of sad this year. Instead of just complaining about it I thought I would post one and expected better feedback.

I am seriously considering this trip. I have been to Deal's Gap and the Zanesville area in the the past.
I am surprised at the lack of organized rides this year. I participate on many forums, local and international and am shocked by the lack of posted rides. West Virginia was cool and well attended a couple weeks ago.

I will be riding up to Ludington and taking the ferry across to Wisconsin. Going to Airventure in Osh Kosh. Should be a fun time. If I wasn't going to that then I would be going on this ride..
