'89 bmw k100, opinions wanted

First of all let me say it's great to be back. The real reason for the post though is: I'm looking to possibly replace my '81 cx500 and I came across this k100 for sale. It has 36000mi & the guy's asking 2k for it. Good deal or am I stuck in the '80s & going to piss away too much coin?

thnx

If itís the gen Iím thinking of, the motor is supposedly bulletproof And could be rebuilt with hand tools on side of road. Consequently you might be doing that in a bike of that age. Check your hinges like suspension (ever rebuilt?), brakes and tires. They are a cool looking retro bike for sure

36k on a GSXR might be a lot, but on a BMW just means it's finally broken in!
I have 67k on my K13GT right now, and have put 76k on a new K1100 in the 90's before selling to a friend who then got it into the 90k's.

BMWs are high mileage bikes.

That's what I've always heard, MilleArp. But I didn't know anyone that could personally vouch for that.

I have about 275,000 or so miles on BMWs, but have met Beemer riders with WAY more. Knew a lady who did the biker shows coast to coast, would ride 36k/yr on BMWs.
For the record, have also owned Aprilia, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Piaggio.
