all groups are open right now registration just opened up.. apex 2 apex comes with high recommendations from everyone i talk to..
if you need help prepping the bike hit me up and i will come down to toledo.. i have safety wire pliers, safety wire and mad track prepping skillz.. what i recommend you buy is:
1. Lockhart Phillips Oil Drain Plug pre-drilled for safety wire - yeah you can drill your own but you can also jack off with sandpaper - what's the point right? just spend the $8.95 and get the magnetic pre-drilled and save your old one for a back up
2. K&N Oil Filter with the hex nut that also has holes so you can safety wire - you have to change your oil when you take the drain plug out anyways - the K&N filter is about the same price as a regular filter anyways. Or you can spend $0.59 and get a hose clamp and use a regular oil filter.
3. A shitload (like 50) of 1/8" drill bits to drill the various other bolts that you need to drill - they break left and right. A little lubricating oil does help though.
4. Fresh oil - see # 2 - you have to change the oil anyways and regardless of when you changed it always a good idea before you go abuse the bike at a track day.
5. Engine ice or water wetter. Just note unless you have your bike in heated storage in the winter water wetter will freeze and crack your block. I prefer Engine Ice but I know alot of track day orgs don't allow it anymore. Regardless you have to get rid of the glycol.
6. Painters tape to tape the lights / blinkers, etc.
7. Zip ties - for the mirror blocks when you remove the mirrors and to zip tie the rear pegs and kick stand once you are at the track.

when you deal with them enough you can have fun with them. Just like throwing a stick and playing fetch. Throw a stick far enough they will be chasing it down for a while. Too bad monday is the 1st day of the engagement so i will need to be around

I just remembered that you will be on the new track bike. Should be fun. Probably bringing the 848 to ride when I am instructing the novice group. See you there.

Very cool. I actually signed up for Novice to get a feel for the new bike as I haven't ridden it at all yet. Depending on how things go, I'll switch over to Intermediate after the second or third session.

was a great day yesterday.. A2A runs a great track day.. good to see you jane.. wasn't a whole lot of people there so that was good - 2 crashes all day so that was even better - i didn't have 1 red flagged session.. alot of the time i was on the track by myself it seemed.. my plan for the day wasn't the greatest - rode to silver lake north of muskegon on thursday.. then rode to grattan on monday leaving silver lake around 5am.. didn't sleep for shit on sunday night.. so i was dead tired at the track.. but with the alone time out there worked on some lines and just tried to work on being more smooth overall.. followed jane for a bit a couple sessions..

Nothing bad happened, but it was funny. When I was on the straight and redlined, shifted and redlined again the bike really wasn't happy. I pulled off for half a lap, confirmed my suspicions and then got back on the track. Lesson learned I suppose is to ask more questions when you buy a used bike. Now I just need to decide if I want to change it back to normal shifting or change my street bike so I don't get screwed up going back and forth between the two machines. It's the first time I've used GP shifting and I do see the benefit on the track, but not so sure about the street.

Starting out from a dead stop was a pain in the ass, but I figured it was just me getting used to the bike. Luckily 3 or 4th gear is the same no matter what direction you shift in to get there. Keep in mind the first two sessions for me was in Novice so we were basically putting around the track. In hindsight, I probably should've realized it faster, but I had no reason to suspect that was the problem.

The first time you shifted to second (well what you thought was second) you would have gone into first (after starting in second. :2cents:

oh yeah super gave him $35 and he took A TON of great pics of super.. he said if you paid up front he would focus on you and he did for sure.. i would say, imo, hands down best photographer i have seen at the track - he is a racer so he knows what people look for and he obviously has very nice equipment - looks top of the line.. and his prices are in line..
can i be 23 next year?

I think Jig is one of the best photographers at trackdays. He gets some awesome shots.

yeah for sure.. i am not a big fan of photographers as most of them charge way too much then bitch no one buys the pictures and the ones i have talked to, or better yet argued with, are just idiots - they don't even ride, etc. and wouldn't know a chopper from a sportbike.. but jig is a bad mofo.. he has the top notch equipment, gets great shots and has respectable pricing.. i was very impressed that he told super he would focus on him if he paid for the cd at the track and he did that and more.. very cool shots of super were the result.. well worth the $35 he spent.. next track day i do that he is at i am dropping the coin for sure to get some great shots..
i guess no one caught the # 23 hint.. of what i will be sporting next year at the track..
