it all depends on when it's gonna be raining...or IF...
I went to grattan 2 weekends ago just to look at the track at an stt event and it look like loads of fun to me.
I will be there if I can get a few good sessions in there :icon14:

HELL YEAH!!!!!! great day today guys and girls. little rain in the beginning and missed out on 1 session. but after the 1st session was over, ahh shit, hit the track hard. gettin better and better every trackday. hung out with nelson all day in intermediate and he loved the faster pase and freedom on I group. NO CRASHES!!!! i grass run off, then neslon faked up the end of the straight, then i thought my trans went out, but the sloppy gearbox proved its self shitty and had creap around T1. must have been my error in upshifting w/o the clutch. might have to slow my timing down a bit. i dragged a knee on about every turn, especially T1 haulin balls!
ver hot out there today. thanks agian jane for letting me get some juice form your generator, mine was doa (faked up out the box and leaking fuel). and got some nice high res pics on a cd coming very soon. decided to get a cd today as well as nelson.
cant wait for mid ohio in 9 days. :D

Hey guys. I am actually going to have to pass on Mid-Ohio this year. As much as I don't want to do it, I just have to. I really want to do Autobahn over Labor Day weekend, and I have to get the "House" finished up.
Have fun and ride safe. If anyone needs to borrow any of my gear, let me know. I have a Generator, EZ Up, Air Tank, etc.... Can't loan the trailer, I will be needing it to help a friend move.

Ruin vacation days? I don't think so! I'm not a big fan of going during the week, but that track is completely worth it. Weekend days are really hard to come by, so this might be the only time I get down there this year. Also, the 30 minute sessions should be interesting - especially if it's hot. I might not crawl into my car to recover in the A/C like some people (I won't say who!) this past weekend, but I will definitely be tired at the end of the day.
As for Grattan, Intermediate was 10X better than Novice as I definitely had more room to play and work on certain skills. I got passed a lot and had one or two pucker moments, but it was a great time. My one major blunder was the stupid mistake of looking at my speedo at the end of the straight, so I won't do that again. I was able to scrub the speed after I said to myself "oh shit!", but I completely blew the corner - oh well, better that than ending up in the dirt.
Mid Ohio in 8 days. Tick, tock, tick, tock....

Look, Lean, and Believe Baby! LOL! Good thing you had the superior engine breaking of that twin huh? One thing I keep learning every time I'm riding Grattan is that you can carry alot of spped through turn 1.
Bumping to I group really helped me with finding reference points, and maintaining a good line. It wont be long, and you and Dave both will be in A group.

You're absolutely right about turn one speed. Every time I go through, I think to myself that I probably could've taken it at 10 or 20MPH faster. I guess I just have to get rid of that stupid self-preservation instinct and realize than turn has a lot of real estate to work with.
As for Advanced for me, I don't see that happening any time soon - especially on my bike. I probably need to start actively looking into getting a track bike. I think the combination of my heavier bike, the higher clip-ons and more importantly the fact that I don't want to wreck it are keeping me from pushing any harder.
i agree with you nelson thats my fear with my bike i dont want to crash my street bike. when i was there i could just tell id be so much more timid on my street bike than if i owned a track bike. so if the gods love me ill find one this winter and be out there with you crazies next summer! :deathmetal:

Saturday was a little iffie with on and off mild drizzle, but Sunday after 10am kicked butt. There were only 4 riders in Advanced on both Saturday and Sunday so I had a lot of one on one time with the instructors on and off the track so I was able to learn even more. Not sure about the lap times since there was no beacon but I was keeping up with the control riders and was able to keep one at bay for a few laps. My whole body is killing today which it hasn't all year so I am sure we were pushing it. :deathmetal:
Dave looked killer out there. It is awesome to see how much he has improved since he bought the 600. Definitly the right choice. Smooth and even fast.......I could have sworn he was going to pass going into the bowl.
Nelson has killer form as always. Nice and smooth. We need to get him a trackbike so that he wants to hit 140mph.

Thanks Jane. I guess form is the one thing I can work on until I get a different bike out there. For those that are curious, 140 is what I saw on my speedo at the end of the straight that made me have the oh shit moment. I know that's slow for some, but that was about 20 MPH more than I'd ever seen at Grattan so I got spooked. My bike tops out around 150-155MPH and takes a while to get there compared to the 600s, so I knew I was moving when I looked down and saw that. Where's the "crapped my pants" smiley when you need one?!

hey it was hot and i needed a nap in the nice cold a/c'd car. :D but after the nap i was back out there draggin a knee on every corner :D
and i can feel myself getting better each trackday. is it from the bike, YUP!!! wish my liter bike was as nimble and had upgraded suspension cause i can only imagine my ass doing what i do now at grattan on my liter bike. i wouldnt be afraid to open her up on the straight and trust my brakes (gixxer brakes suck ass!!!!). and i actually passed a couple ppl, and one guy kept pissing me off and cutting my line. damn r6 guy with more power. lol
yup, just PAID for mid ohio and booked the room today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jon, thanks for letting me use the genny and the ezup :D

I too would be bummed wrecking my daily driver bike....I am actively working on the track bike idea I spoke about at Grattan Nathan...it looks like there is possibility?? but lots of red tape with Allstate that I am having to weed through.....but with any luck we may have winter project that we can put together for next year..woohoo!! :ridin:
