I stopped by TT Motorsports today after reading Lucky's post about demo rides so I figured it might be sweet to take a Ducati for a test ride so I went out this morning & signed up to ride their Hypermotard. You could also take the 848 for a test ride as well but the sign up sheet was full for the day already and they only had 1 to demo vs the 12 or so Hypermotards. It was still pretty cool. Too bad I couldn't get the 848. The 848 is a sweet bike! I called Dave to see what he was up to & he met me down there. He changed his mind about riding the Ducati and we headed over to L7. On the way to L7, we saw a huge Triumph trailer at the dealership on Groesbeck & Martin. I stopped by on the way back from L7 and checked them out and they are having demo rides also. They had several different types of bikes to ride from cruisers to sport touring to the Daytona sport bike. I got to demo the 675 Daytona Triple on one ride and we got back in time for the last demo ride of the day so I took a Sprint ST out for a demo as well. Both are very sweet bikes. Triumph is going to be out there tomorrow as well if anybody wants to take one of their bikes for a demo ride. They start signing up at 9am and the first ride leaves at 10am. The last demo ride is at 2:30pm so get there early if you want to ride the sport bikes because they go quick on the sign up sheet. I don't know if Ducati is doing demo rides on Sunday but Triumph for sure is if the weather cooperates.

Jim,
What time were you at triumph detroit? I was there for the 3pm demo and took out a tiger. Wanted to take out either the speed or street triple but were all booked for the day. Was thinking of going back down today but the loop they are running isnt really worth it. The trailer is factory triumph with every bike they make. If you have something in particular you want to ride, the dealer will let you demo any bike you are interested in. If you go in for a personal demo you take it out on your own loop at your own pace. Not just a straight line ride. What did you think of the Daytona compared to the jap sport bikes?

I was there about 3:45 signed up to take out the Daytona on the 5pm ride. I left to go get some lunch in the mean time and came back in time for the ride. We got back from the ride just in time to take the 5:30 ride and I wanted to try the Sprint ST. I was really surprised at how the ST handled. It was easy going into turns. I didn't have to wrestle it at all. I thought I was really going to have a hard time but it was like it almost wanted to fall into the turns but was balanced very nicely. I didn't have any problems at all coming out of the turns as well. If I get a sport touring bike, that would definately be at the top of my list to get. I would like to try out the FJR as well just to compare but I've heard it's not as easy to go through turns and it's a bit heavier. It was a really good ride though. I was impressed with it. The transmissions on both of the bikes were very impressive. Tight and smooth. No slop in them at all like the japanese bikes. I've never tested any other japanese sport bikes except the CBR600RR but I've sat on them and the Kawasaki definately has a better feel and comfortable seat. Not a brick you sit on. Of all the bikes I rode that day they all had more torque than my Ninja but seats were not as comfortable except for the Sprint ST. I guess if I want more torque out of mine I'm just gonna have to go up 2 teeth on my rear sprocket & see how that goes.

I used to live right down the street from TT. Great guys, great shop. Rob and Jose are awesome.
Rosenau used to be the only shop selling Ducs for years. I thought that I had satified my longings for a Duc years ago and then they show up with a new shop and badazz bikes 10 min from my house. Went to the shop and 2 days later, 20 some thousand in debt.
I love those guys...
