so i started at a new dealership in dec last yr. im not the "low man on the totem pole" but im not the head bish either. i work under the other high end exotic guy. so i work with him, and "help" with the hummer guys when im slow. so we are told we are on a 4 day work week for the time being, maby up to a month or 2. fakin BS!!!!!!!!!! if ya ask me. i told my boss, why the fak did ya even hire me in, id have taken the other job at the BMW dealership and not have to worry about this.

so now im working 4 days, alternating tues/fri off and weekends off. but i still get about 35hrs and still can manage (pay wise) at that hourly pay level.

so i sit here at home on a tuesday, waiting for the damn ups guy to drop off a filter so i can head over to L7 and drop it off before the ecu mapping.

im sooooo bored, the roads are still a little wet, and i really wanna ride.

and i can only post whore soo much on here today before i get really bored.

maby ill wash the bike.

Demon,

I have a white ram and it shows some of the orange spots from the good old band-aid treatment the roads here in MI get (i assume its tar). I tried bug and tar, & honda polish but using the clay bar seems to be the only way to get it off but its a PITA. Do you have any tricks to get this off? Ive done 1/3 of the truck so far and i'm not looking forward to doing the tailgate at all.

the "orange/rust" colored spots are brake dust. iron from the brake pads pressing on the rotors produces this "dust" which gets embedded into the paint. a clay bar will remove this with ease. wash the truck, then rinse. then rewash a small panel at a time and use the clay bar over the washed/soapy area. then rinse again. the claybar lifts the embedded crap in the paint out of the paint and leaves it perfectly smooth.

you dont have to scrub with the claybar, but put a little pressure on it. oh and dont let the claybar drop on the ground. if it does, wash really good and inspect for any large debris that will scratch the paint surface.

thats about the easiest way to remove the spots. you can wheel the truck out, but thats about a 2hr+ job and you have to know what your doign or you WILL burn the paint.

You need to pick up some side work Dave :thumb2: Throw a craigslist ad out there for detailing.

i think i might rethink my job choice. i kinda dont like doing what i do any longer. the money can be good, and is good when i get off my lazy ars and do some side work. thats where i make great cash.

oh, and fak craigslist, those cheap ars bastards almost have a heart attack when i tell them what i charge for a complete detail. for a full complete detail (fully do the inside, motor, wash/clay/polish (by hand) its a minimum of 175-200.00. if i have to pull out the wheel and high speed the paint, thats an extra 100.00 minimum. tell that price to someone driving a neon. lmfao!!!

thanks tho don, how about you hookin me up w/a job in VW? i come with excellent references form Dave Suplee (former VW rep, now maserratti rep), Glenn Briggs (CEO of US Auto Group), and more big wigs.

I'm on thirty two to thirty five hours again.
Monday thru friday.
We slowly slide toward bankrupcy when this happens.
This week I may get 30 if I'm lucky, since I'm home babysitting the house since we lost power this morning.
Dont ask me why we lost power today, monday morning instead of yesterday...:dunno:
I'm using generator power right now, to post this up.

more on topic,
The 4 hour work week will be used to chop payroll across the country starting at 40 hours for monday thru friday and then 35, then 30....
Soon the new straight full time hours will be 20-25 hours...no insurance...
And the employers will still bitch about profits.:2cents:

I might be able to help you. It's very difficult to get hired into VW as a direct employee internally and much more difficult off the street. I would suggest applying via the website vw.com. What I can do if you want to give me a resume is submit it to our contract company Perot Systems. They handle our call center, so you'd basically be a phone jockey that handles warranty, goodwill, complaints, compliments, etc.. The pay isn't all that great ($11-16/hr), but there are great benefits. 19 days vacation a year, tuition reimbursement, etc. The earliest shift is 8-5 and the latest is 11:30-8. Never any weekends and all holidays off. This is what I started as and worked my way up to be a full time internal employee (so there is room to advance) I found the job extremely simple and with your technical knowledge of cars/bikes and the fact that you know how dealers operate will make you a shoe-in. If you want to stay in dealer land, I know a few dealers in the area that I'm sure could use a good Service Writer. Let me know man.
