My baby is for sale. She has done me very well, but she has to go (wife still doesn’t want me to sell her). I’m keeping my wife’s R6, and my Burgman. Have to let a steed go from the stable.

I have ridden this bike across the country, and she has done me great.

There has been no motor work. She runs strong, and I take great care and pride in my vehicles.

Slip on pipe, Scotts Stabilizer, forks were rebuilt last year, tires have about 1,000 miles on them (chicken strips completely removed so you can instantly talk smack to your friends).

Bike has been down. Went down on a slow low side about 3 years ago at Deals Gap. No serious damage, replaced frame slider, which took most of the damage. Minor scrape upper and lower. Can hardly tell in pix.

If interested, send me an e-mail. This is your opportunity to get into a liter class motorcycle for less than 5 grand.

You never know how much I’ll let it go for. But don’t offer anything up unless you can put a deposit down and payment in full within 24 hours.

We never know when my wife will say it’s no longer for sale.

You gotta show a picture of the seat, it's awesome! Honestly, I've never sat in a seat more comfortable :thumb2:

So what your going to be riding the lowered R6 now, that would look funny, can we get a pic of that. I can't believe your selling your bike, let me know when your selling the Hot Rod...:thumb2:

Na, I got the stuff and put it back to stock height. And have the stuff to put it back if she wants to ride it.

And as far as the hot rod.

That may be next. I'm moving to Florida next year and don't think I can take it with me.

Oh, and trust me, I'm the one that wants to sell it. Leslie is dead set against me selling it. I just can't take having it sit in the garage and not getting ridden. She has been my baby sense she made it off the boat. It's been the best bike I have ever had, but things change, got a kid now, and have to look at things realistically.

Know what I mean?

I for sure do, I'm right behind ya on that one... That's why you gotta get all your toys before they come and don't let em go when they do arrive. Give me some notice if you decide to get rid of the hot rod, I've been itchin lately and looking around. And CONGRATS on your new baby, post up some pics papa..

It's funny how your priorities change (hear me out, because I'm totally with you on getting all of my toys. I had 15+ years of that kind of living, and I took great advantage of it).

To be honest I feel I'm cheating on my CBR by not riding her. It's a weird how that feels.

I still have the R6 to go to the Gap with, Oh, and most importantly the Fiddy. But to be honest, I don't feel it's fair to my baby, to let her sit for 10 months and only ride her for 2 months out of the year.

Know what I mean?

And I really don't think I can sell her to some kid that has cash, but no idea how to respect the bike. I.E. kill themselves.

I actually got an e-mail today that said. "Do you know the top speed of this bike?"

I wanted to reply with. "You won't have to worry about your payments, because you will be dead before you make the first one."

But I was nice and replied with. "I haven't ever tried to top it out" (which is honestly true, then replied again with the question "Is this a serious question?"

He replied with "I just was wondering if you have tried"

Nice to which I would have replied NO BIKE FOR YOU!!! Move along little squiddys. After a long run and 50k on the superhawk I was more than happy to turn her over to a really cool guy that I kept in touch with and he was taking really good care of her. Yeah I hear what your saying, I actually feel bad taking my new one out and putting miles on it. I want it to stay new as long as I can, I was even thinking about getting another one to ride and beat on so I can keep the new one new. Sorry I can't buy yours cause I wouldn't do her justice.

Kids, wife..or in my case wives., job relocation...one of the only constants in life....is change. Its too bad you have to give up something that obviously means a ton to you..thats tough. ...but I can tell you from experience that life will go on....one day you and your kids will ride together or build the next rod....I have had my share of 9 second machines as well as a half dozen bikes through out the years...and it really hurts to part with something that you bled and sweat over for so long...still miss some of them badly, but now the kids have their own kids and dad gets to go out and re-discover his 2 wheeled freedom all over again. Nothing better then hangin with the likes of you guys on the black snake. I hope your bike finds a good owner... you will never forget her. IMO

Thanks Prostreet and Nate, you two know exactly the feelings I'm going through. Like I said, I would keep it, and probably will to be honest.

My wife still keeps telling me to tell people it's no longer for sale, and don't even think of taking anything less than 4500. Which is 1300 less than retail. The bike isn't perfect, it's been ridden and she has loved every mile of it. And this corbin seat makes it all worth while.

Thanks again for the kind words brothers!

Dude Keep It! You can't get any more support than your wife telling you not to do it.

I am in a similar boat as you with our baby coming in about 6 weeks, I've talked about selling my bike too but decided that push comes to shove it will be a full on track bike when the kid comes to minimize my risk. I wouldnt never get what the bike is worth to me if i try to sell it.

It speaks volumes about you guys that you put family first. Too many people, especially men, don't do that. I would probably hang on to the bike as well. I would imagine that it would be nice to jump on it, and ride to work once in a while. I sold my street bike because I figured I would just ride at the track, but I miss it having one. I am definitely going to get another, but I'll wait until fall or winter.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Jon

Thanks Jon,

I've been married for 15 years and have had a blast. We have been trying to have a child for almost 4 years with one misshap. I look at it like this. When your growing up and mom and dad buy you a bicycle, you don't take care of it as much as the one you had to save your (lawn mowing, or paper route) money to buy.

This is the same theory with Children in my book. The longer it takes to have one, the more appreciative we are for the blessing bestowed apon us.

I am truly blessed with a beautifull newborn, and a wife that rides, and is kicking and screaming to keep me from selling mine.

What is a guy to do? LOL

Thanks Jon, other riders would criticize us for even thinking about getting rid of our bikes. Say that we weren't passionate enough about the sport.

I do still ride on the road from time to time but not nearly as much as i used to. Today for example, the weather can't get any more perfect than it is so I rode it to work and will ride again this afternoon/early evening.

What is a guy to do? LOL

Keep it!

I think I'm going to end up keeping it. Unless someone passes my interview (knowing she is going to good hands) and gives me what my wife will take for it.

And to be honest, I won't feel bad at all for keeping it. Like I said before, I just feel I'm cheating on her for not riding her on a regular basis.

Interview went great!

I honestly have been holding back tears.

The thing that helps is, you have made it clear that you will take care of her as good, if not better than I have, and your not going to go out and try to see how fast she can go and end up hurt.

I couldn't live with myself if some kid came and bought it, and ended up hurting themselves, let alone wrecking my baby. (actually I wouldn't have sold it to a kid I didn't think was ready for this kind of bike)

Thanks again buddy
Matt

hellsnat
06-12-2008, 04:10 PM
Yes, he is a great candidate, and no disrespect Phill, but it's like your little sister. Is there anyone good enough for her? (smirk)

I still have my wife's R6 for some fun here and there. But I have all the lowering stuff so if she wants to ride, she still can.

Yeah, like my wife said to me last night. What are you going to do when you see your bike all lowered and looking good (not that it doesn't look good now). I told her I don't know how I'll take it.

Phill, you just let me know where and when, and I'll be there. Baring any traffic delays or driving around the neighborhood looking for your house. (smirk)

hellsnat
06-12-2008, 04:12 PM
Oh, and my wife was impressed with Phill also. She mentioned how he seemed to be the type that is as pationate about it as you are. She told me it's going into good hands.
