I could not I.D. the bike very well, looked like a red duc?

I just caught the video of the tow truck with the bike .....
And the news stated the rider passed in a No Passing zone & hit a car head on.

Watch ch4 News at 5pm for more details......And I may be wrong on the bikes make and model, Im just going by the quick video shot on back of tow truck....my best estimate is a Ducati Monster???...

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- One man is dead after a motorcycle crashed into a minivan on Packard Road at Edison Road in Ypsilanti Township on Monday afternoon.

Washtenaw County police closed the intersection and told Local 4 News that they do not expect to reopen the intersection until at least 5 p.m., pending further investigation.

According to police, the motorcyclist, Daniel Gombos, 20, of Pittsfield Township was thrown from his 2007 Triumph motorcycle and died at the scene.

Initial police investigation revealed that Gombos was traveling eastbound on Packard Road at a high speed, when the motorcycle struck a minivan that was turning onto Packard Road from Edison Street.

Gombos was thrown from his bike. The bike burst into flames and caught the minivan on fire.

Police said a 79-year-old Ypsilanti man was driving the minivan. His 80-year-old wife and their 6-year-old grandson were also in the van.

A witness pulled the family out of the van.

None of the people in the van was injured, according to EMS.

Police said the crash remained under investigation, however investigators believe the speed of the motorcycle was the predominant cause of the crash.

Luckily he didn't kill the people in the van that were actually obeying the law. It sucks for the people close to him, and that they have to deal with that loss, but I am having a hard time feeling bad for him. It is unfortunate.

That incident happened last year, with the guy on the 2007 Triumph hitting the minivan. He used to go to the church I used to attend a while back, and he was Romanian (like me). Very young, 20, and if I'm not mistaken, I think he had just gotten married and had a kid or somethin'.

Was there another incident in Ypsilanti that was on the news today? If not, this is old stuff.
