Anyone heard about this push for a national reduction in the speed limit?
Sound familiar to the 70's?
Reducing speed saves gas..... (might be true, but my time is worth more to me).
Here comes the big hand of government again to save us from ourselves.
This should be a good one.
Your thoughts.....
:smilepopcorn:
I thought the speed limit was 186?

You nailed my thought exactly!
It will do nothing but build revenue for local government.

I heard the state is making way more money on tickets for people without insurance than speeders, within the last few years.

I really hope we do not go back to that again.
It was such a pain!
In Ohio, wearing MI plates, many people used to get tickets for going 56 in a 55 on a freeway designed for 70 MPH +.
However, it will save gas, if everyone drives no faster than 55.

I do my part for saving gas....I ride a motorcycle.....just think how much money the state would save if everyone rode a bike...think of how much cheaper insurance would be??? ...hmmm but the thought of my mom on a bike just scares the crap out of me!!

I'm still waiting for the cost savings from recycling, casinos, managed health care, ethanol, and casinos.
I wont hold my breath.

Wow! That's harsh.
How about canning all of the non productive members of the UAW. That would make one heck of a difference.

Well, this morning, FoMoCo says that it will be cutting 12% of the white collar force. No buy outs, just gone.
Not happy news.

No that's not happy news. I feel for some of them.
With buyouts, (I have heard) that the productive workers are quick to take them and move on.
The non productive workers hang on until they are forced out.
Again, so I'm told.
With that said, we can only hope that these 12% are the lowest producers, not the ones with the dirtiest noses. (smirk)

Good point Duner. I'm still waiting for that too. The casino's were suppose to save Detroit. So how come the city isn't saved yet?

Just because you have to change your diaper every time you go over 55, doesn't mean the rest of us should conform our riding speeds. Just to save you some money.:doublefinger:

I believe you are the one in the diaper changing business, bub! Is the 954 up for sale yet? I figured you would have to slow down and get yourself a cruiser by now old man.

It's funny you say that. See my post on scooters. LOL
Yeah, diaper changing isn't all that, but hey, in 16 years I'll have a daughter that can out ride your slow ass!

I didn't but I've actually cut back my normal x-way speed by about 5-10mph to conserve gas. I went from about 47mpg to just over 53mpg by doing that. It takes every ounce of will power to keep of the throttle but you have to with these prices
I'm still wait to see how close I can stay with you...for about 2 minutes! LOL! How about you hop back on the YSR and we'll see what happens :moon:
hellsnat
05-29-2008, 01:42 AM
So you cut your speed back from 55 to 45-50mph? Good for you, now you are like that blue hair that cruzes and doesn't realize how much she is holding up the traffic!
And as for the YSR comment. I ran that at the gap and never got passed. (did pass a hurst though)
Now that was a fun run!
Now go get your man purse, put it on the table and make me some pie! (said in a Cartman voice)

What ever it takes to save gas! I'm just going to get a license plate holder that says "I get over 50mpg, how about you". They can chew on that while they are honking at me to get out of the way :doublefinger:
You probably went on the Killboy hall of fame with that run. How many m-effer's would you catch wearing a Papa Smurf outfit on a YSR??? LMFAO

55 sucks as do any speed limits.. ohio has 55 in some areas and it feels like crawling plus 95 in a 55 is alot bigger ticket than 95 in a 70.. i drive fast as i am very impatient and if they do this i will need a 55mph governor on my car..
let's get real though - its not about saving gas its all about revenue for the city / state, etc.
honestly i could drink 20 beers, be on my laptop postwhoring on the redline board, talking on the cell phone, drinking a beer and still drive better than 95% of the general public.. yes i got mad skillz but mfp don't make me slow down.. just do me a favor and stay to the right so i can get through because no you don't have a "right" to be in the left lane doing 50mph..
