The small incident we had this weekend made me realize that the first-aid kit that I carry in my bike is somewhat insufficient. Wondering what if anything everyone else carries.

After we went through your kit, mine essentially got cleaned out of the good stuff, so I either need to replace the stuff we used or upgrade to a larger kit. Fitting under the seat is nice, but if I can find a bigger one that's nice, I'll just toss it in the tank bag.

Ya might wanna consider getting a good item list for kits other than the norm and split up the items between two road captains for outings.
Pick a type of container that fits in most bike storage spaces, get two, then remove the redundant little boo boo items, and add items split between two kits. This facilitates the ability to have items that normal kits dont carry, and splits the storage space between two riders.
Easier for one rider to carry one of two kits, but yet twice the items on hand in an emergency.
Drawbacks...Kits need to be exchanged between road captains per events per area before said events.

I guess at the opposite end of the coin, we dont have people crashing at 5 mph anymore.

Yes, on group rides I take my tail bag which is an RKA Luggage expandable bag. It fits nicely on the rear seat when it is compacted and fits the 200 piece first aid kit in there, among other incident related items like hazard triangle, lighting, florescent vest, and the like.

Eric, is that that kit that I gave you?? LOL...I got those things from Meijer on clearance for $0.99.

If you're looking for some recommendations, I would suggest the following:

1. Large gauze pads (preferably the vasoline soaked ones so they don't stick)
2. Iodine vile (as peroxide normally only comes in large containers)
3. Medical tape
4. Tweezers for picking out gravel
5. Lighter for sterilizing the tweezers
6. A good knife for cutting (maybe even a small pair of scissors)
7 ACE bandage
8. And of course, band aids.

That should cover just about any incident we would be able to address in the field. Anything more serious than that and we would most likely have an ambulance on the way anyhow.

The Tail bag I have is made from RKA Luggage, and I love it! I would buy it again. It was very well made and stitched. They do not make the model I have but I believe this is the closest model...http://www.rka-luggage.com/A03%20Seatbags/18_STARR/STARR%20IV.html

I know that Bluto has a the larger bag, and I think he bought the tank bag too. But I know when I do my long haul trips...I have this bag and a tank bag to last me for clothes, tools, first aid, and everything I need for the week. :icon14:

I have the Cortech set.
Tail bag, side bags, tank bag that you can rest your chin on while riding.
I just dont like using them unless i'm touring.
I feel lika dork with them on the bike.
There's almost enough room for a pair of gloves and a rain jacket in my bike's compartment....:(
