I need to get new tires on my bike. I am really new to these bikes and unsure what to get. A buddy of mine recommended the Pirelli Diablosport Strata's. I found them from Motorcyclesuperstore.com for about $240 shipped.

What tires do you all run? I do a lot of daily driving with my bike. To and from work, out on the weekends doing some twisties... so I need an all around good tire, nothing pure race, nothing hard as a rock. Know what I mean? I did a search of the forums and couldn't find a thread like this, so how about we start one now?

Help me out please. Lookin for quick responses, cause I want to buy them while I have the extra $$$$ layin around for them.

Thanks

Patrick

What's on them now?

Call Jane at Sportbiketrackgear.com they have really good prices on michelins and don't charge much for off the bike installation

Pilot powers or power 2CTs are ideal for your bike.

+1, I have run Pilot Powers, after BT010, Pirelli Diablo's, and the pilot powers have been by far the best so far, and lasted the longest, and great in the rain.

I just went from the Diablo Corsa's(stock) to the Diablo Strada's. They are definately more of a street tire. They have less grip than the corsa's and slide in the corners a little. If you aren't going to ride them hard then it shouldn't be an issue, but if you are going to push the limits then I would suggest the Rosso opposed to the Strada. The Rosso replaced the Corsa and I think it's a higher performance tire. I have only run Pirelli's on my bikes so I can't give any insight into other brands.

....but that's just my :2cents:

I posted this question on a few other forums I belong to and it seems that everyone is saying Pilot Power 2ct. are the way to go.... gonna do a little more research and then decide. More input is always welcome :)

The 2CT is a great tire, but you won't get the mileage that you will from the regular Pilot Power. I put the regular Pilot Power's through the ringer at the track, and had no issues. I only mention that because of your comment about daily commuting.

I run them on my 929... I have to say they are great... Plus as flipf4ipilot said: "Call Jane at Sportbiketrackgear.com they have really good prices on michelins" They have internet prices but you can get them right now. They will even mount for a small fee.

I have always run either Bridgstone 010 or Pirelli Diablo's and love them both.

The bike I have now came with a set of Dunlop Qualifier's. Have not had any problems with them as of yet but I don't like Dunflops. (Personal preference)

What do you know??? :doublefinger: LOL!

If you aren't looking to be tearing up the corners on a daily basis and want a good cross b/n a high mileage and good gripping tire, I'd look at Avon. I ran Azaro 46's for two season...put about 12k miles on them before needing to replace them and never had any issues with slipping. The only problem you'll experience with sport touring tires is that they need some warm up time before you want to abuse them. Avon has since replaced the Azaro with Storms; if they're anything like their predecessor, you'll be very happy with them. Just my :2cents:

Call Jane (I mean me) at Sportbiketrackgear a.k.a. STG at 888-784-4327. I will hook you up with some nice Michelin 2CT's for a nice price, any Michelin for that matter.

I put a lot of miles on tires a lot of them highway getting to the good roads to the south... REAL roads, not this crap that Michigan calls roads. No matter what you do... get a sport touring tire if you commute at all. Unless you are pushing it real hard at the track... you dont need a true sport tire.

I was going through sport tires more often than changing oil. I get about double out of a sport touring tire. Now, I am not talking about GoldWing tires... I am talking real sport touring tires.

I dont hit the track, and I am not the fastest out there, but I wick it up pretty good down south and I have yet to find a time when my tires were limiting me. I have run Avon Azeros and Conti Road Attacks. So far I like the Road Attacks best because they lasted the longest. Next tires I will give STG a shot and see what they can offer up.

So where is a good cheaper place to go and have them put the tires on? I wanna drop the bike off and the tires and come back and pick up my bike with new tires on it.

You can take your bike to STG and they will do it or you can take it to Scott at L7 Motorsports (10 mile and mound rd).
