Lets try this again....
Ok everyone, I'm planning a trip to the UP from my place in Mancelona the weekend of the 20 & 21st of September. Never been to the UP, so prety excited to ride around there and check out some sites. :ridin: Tentative plan is as follows:
Saturday:
8:30am - Leave my place and head to Avery's restaurant in Mancelona for breakfast. Eat and let others meet up there that aren't leaving from my place. Fill gas tanks at BP.
9:15am - Leave Mancelona and head for Gaylord
9:45am - Gaylord. Can meet up with people here if need be. Otherwise jump on I-75 north to Mac Bridge.
10:30 - Mackinaw City. Quick stop. Then continue to Sault Ste Marie up 75
11:30 - Arrive at the Sault Ste Marie. Check out some sites. Locks, etc.. Grab some lunch.
1:00ish - Head for Whitefish Point
(not sure how long time wise after this)
- White Fish Point - check out Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum: http://www.shipwreckmuseum.com/museum.phtml
- Tahquamenon Falls - Check out upper falls and the micro brewery. :cheers:
- Back to Paradise and then south on 123 to I-75 and back to Mancelona. Probably stop for dinner and drinks somewhere on the way back.
- Bon fire back at my place or go out somewhere. Probably kinda tired after a full day of riding however. :zzz:
Sunday:
Pretty flexible depending on peoples schedules for heading back downstate, but we can ride around some pretty sweet roads around the East Jordan river valley, Torch lake, etc....
Attached is an overview of the area in the UP we'll be travelling.
Also attached is a recommended place to stay a few miles from my place. I have room for a couple peeps at my house but it is kinduv a smaller house. Plenty of property (15acres) at my house to camp on if that works for people. There is at least one motel in downtown Mancelona that I can get contact info on for people to.
If I've missed anything :sissy: let me know and I'll edit my original post. :badteeth:
PS: your eyes aren't playing tricks - I did originally schedule this for the 6th and 7th. Made the change due to last Grattan trackday is the 6/7. Might get more color in trees by waiting 2wks also.....
