Hey all,

On May 31, 2008, yours truly will be jogging his fat ass around Downtown Detroit for the Susam Komen Race for the Cure. It is a 5K run which is 3.1 miles. Normally, I do not run unles someone real big is chasing me, but this is a great cause.

I am running to honor my Good Friend Amy Neilson. Amy is 39, and is a 2 year Breast Cancer survivor. I would appreciate any support you could give.

Below is my donation page if you feel like donating.
Thanks,

Jon Green

My mom just got diagnosed with breast cancer a few days ago...I might be able to make it as well. Need to lose a few thousand calories. Thanks for bringing it up Jon.

Just so everyone knows. If you want to participate, you will need to go to the Race for the Cure Website and register. It costs $25 to walk or run. They will assign you a number, and then you can run.

Anyone can come up to cheer me on though. I really appreciate all of the support. I can imagine that Breast Cancer has touched all of our lives at one time or another.

Certainly a worth cause.
(that is also one of the 2 days for the RedBull Air Races, I'm just saying)

Sorry to hear of your mother's illness, Don. It has to be very scary.
But perhaps it has been caught early enough and the story will not have to have a bad ending.

Good luck to all and good for you Jon!

Thanks man. The tumor is less then 1 cm, so yeah it was caught early. She just has to worry about the chance of it spreading. My family (especially her side) has some history of breast cancer, not to mention glaucoma and diabetes, so she just got dealt a shitty hand. She's staying positive and seems to be doing okay. :thumb2:

Thanks Lizzi! I will definitely post up for next year. I actually signed up last minute myself. It would be cool to have a big group running or walking together. I appreciate the cheers and the donation.

Hey all,

I want to thank everyone that has donated so far. I am up to 3.0 miles a day, and getting stronger. My outlook is pretty good for finishing the whole race running.

There is still time to donate to a great cause, and support one of you own. click the link in the first post, and follow the steps. Be sure to print out the confirmation, because it is tax deductable.

Thanks again,

Jon

Dam, Jon!

Your doing great on the weight loss n fitness.

I'm up to 1/8 of a mile now....
2 summers ago, I was doing 5 miles at a steady jog, but hit the plateau on the weight loss progress.
I might get going after my kid's soccer season is done and get up to two miles.....:squid2:
