I did not see this posted on our new and improved board!
So, I am once again posting about the air races coming to the Detroit River, May 31 to June 1.
Should be very cool!
The entire course is only 1.4 Km long and they have to fly between gates floating on the water, rising 60 feet into the air.
It should be something to see!

I heard this is one of the worst sports events as far as causing pollution is concerned. Figures they picked Detroit :cussing:

Yeah and the tickets are expensive as heck!
Grand Stand seating tickets are only $15/pp. The big shot tickets are $1,000/pp.

This event is good for Detroit. I read that over 5,000 hotel rooms are booked just for the event planning, red bull, pilots, and the entire production. So the fans will book more rooms, good event if you ask me.

I'm sooooo confused!
It certainly looks cool, from the commercials they are running!
Very nice POV cockpit footage on the site.
We should still see if we can get a group together to go.

Ok...I edited my post. I thought that would have been funny if Yaz said that stuff.

uh-hum, the best parking and viewing for the price is in a parking structure. everyone roll up, pay to park, and watch it from the top level. 10.00 to park and free viewing. woo hoo.
oh and on the pollution, thats the last dayum thing id be thinking of. think of the revenue thats coming into detroit to help pay for kwami's 9mil lawsuit, kawami's recent fak up, and all the hotties that are gonna be down there that weekend.

So is racing in general, unless we're talking sail-boats.
Anyways, if I can, I'm going to get up there for this race. I have a few flying buddies trying to get me dragged up there as well. Anyone know where they are staging the race-teams? I figured Gross Isle, but maybe @ city airport(hope they survive that one!).

I agree completely... get some people downtown. And even better get some out of towners in town again. Need some good publicity again.

I was down at the RenCen this morning and checked out the RedBull preparation.
1st: Yes inside the atrium of the RenCen is a fair amount of Redbull hotties handing out t-shirts and such. :eyebrows: There are flight simulators in there you can play as well.
2nd: The planes will be flying pretty close to the water (like less than 100ft) to run between the pylons.
Looks pretty cool!
I'll be at a track day Sunday but was thinking about going down on Friday to watch them practice. :icon14:
